Honeybee Food Intake

This past week I have been helping with a new experiment. We are looking into how viruses, specifically Deformed Wing Virus affects what the bees eat. We are feeding the injected bees three pollen patties; one containing more protein, one with more fat, and one with just pollen. I found this project fascinating because I had never thought about that aspect of Deformed Wing Virus. Below are some pictures of the pollen patties and the syringes filled with sugar water used in cages to feed the bees.
